In this text, as an initial research report, the objective is to enable a didactic-pedagogical intervention with reading as a production of meaning in the continuing training of a group of teachers of Portuguese language. Regarding theoretical assumptions, this report is based on the interactionist conception of reading (KOCH; ELIAS, 2018). It is also based on Menegassi’s study (1995) regarding the stages of the reading process and Sole’s study (1998) regarding the strategies of working with reading. The methodological aspects are configured because it is a research-action of qualitative nature. The data collection instrument will be through the focus group. The participants of the research will be 03 (three) teachers of Portuguese language in the high school. The locus of the research will take place in a public school of the municipality of Moreno, Pernambuco. As a result, this research proposal will result in three actions: (1) promote changes in teaching practice; (2) strengthen the way of teaching reading as a production of meaning in the school environment and (3) mobilize strategies to fill gaps in the initial education of teachers of Portuguese language in the high school.
