Abstract

Considering the importance of communication in modern society as well as the vital role of information, we perceive the need to focus on training teachers to acquire skills and competencies that can facilitate understanding, use, production and criticism of the communication process mediated by information and communication technologies. This conviction has guided the implementation of this article, which aims to contribute reflections on the importance of using social media in education and in teacher education. After all, one lives in a world where new strategies and communication media such as virtual communities, blogs, forums and others are increasingly present. Allowing social interaction through sharing of information, thus contributing to the emergence of new forms of learning and teaching. For that we conducted a survey among students in undergraduate programs through the use of questionnaires. The collected data confirmed the importance of media use in the classroom as well as the significance of this aspect for the formation and identity construction of being a teacher who will act in a network society.
