The objective of this reflective article is to examine the intersection between open science and decolonial theories as an interdisciplinary approach to promote a significant change in the paradigm of contemporary science. To do so, it highlights how decolonial theories aim to challenge the power structures and hierarchies of knowledge deeply rooted in the academic community. In parallel, open science proposes concrete measures to promote transparency, global collaboration, and equal access to knowledge. When these two approaches converge, we can pave the way for a more equitable and diverse science capable of addressing the complex challenges of the 21st century.
