Abstract

This Scientific Article explores the relationship between Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and the process of globalization through a critical analysis of the film “The Boy and the World” (2013), directed by Alê Abreu. The research is based on the understanding that contemporary technological transformations, especially those related to artificial intelligence, are embedded in global dynamics involving information flows, the reorganization of labor, and inequalities between countries and regions. In this context, the study seeks to investigate how elements present in the film’s narrative can contribute to understanding the structural changes brought about by technological globalization. The methodology used consisted of a narrative literature review combined with an analysis of the film in order to establish parallels between the representations in the work and the challenges associated with the expansion of GenAI. The results indicate that, although the film addresses processes related to industrialization and agribusiness, its narrative allows for a broader discussion about the social, economic, and cultural impacts of technological progress, highlighting tensions between development, inequality, and the transformation of labor relations in a globalized society.
