Abstract

ABSTRACT: This article aims to analyze the work Sedition from 1817 by primary teacher Isabel Urbana Carneiro de Albuquerque Gondim (1839-1933). She is an intellectual who, through her teaching practice and bibliographical production, stood out with the production of plays, poetry and history books. This work aims to analyze a book the historical method adopted by the author, as well as her mobilization of narrative for the written production of the nation's past, especially in Rio Grande do Norte, in an intelligible and sensitive way for students. The work “Sedition of 1817” and newspapers that deal with this production were listed as central sources. This book mobilizes a reconfiguration of the methodology of history, in which family memories are listed as a resource for the construction of “historical truth”.
