Abstract

The present article aims to dialogue about the figure Dr. Laura Amazonas, her contribution to various sectors of society in Sergipe, particularly in the area of education and health, through her education as a dentist, and her educational work at the institution “Casa dos Pequeninos”. And perceive those reasons the pushed the silence surrounding her work.Trough the research about the performance of Dr. Laura Amazonas, the theorical and methodological foundations of Cultural History were used. The sources applied to this research were: Interviews, regulations, periodicals of the period, photographs, bibliography and specialized websites, through which we had access to Dr.  Laura Amazonas’ memoirs and contribution. By dialogue with sources, we seek to comprehend the motivations that the led a character of such great importance to live in the silence of history. Talking about Dr. Laura Amazonas is somehow to contribute to the History of Female Education in Sergipe, contemplating its advanced and difficulties.
