Abstract

The objective of this work was to carry out a systematic review in relation to the use of nutritional therapies as the first dietary indication for the SARS-CoV-2 positive hospitalized patient with DM2. The PRISMA methodology was used and the systematic exploration was carried out in the scientific search engines: PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google scholar, Scopus, Cochrane and EBSCO in a period from 2019 to 2022. 1535 articles were found, of which only 6 articles met the criteria of inclusion. This review demonstrated that despite the high mortality rates in patients with DM2 positive for SARS-CoV-2, the life expectancy of hospitalized patients can be improved by taking into consideration the different nutritional therapies (vitamin D supplementation, Omega -3, lifestyle changes, glucose level monitoring) during and after hospitalization.
