Abstract
In this work, interviews were carried out on the knowledge about hepatitis C with patients and companions in attendance at the outpatient clinics of Cemed, located at the Anhanguera Uniderp University, in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, from April to August 2021. bibliographic survey on the platforms PubMed, LILACS, Capes, Scielo and Cochrane journals portal, building a script for the interview, containing 5 questions, with a total of 14 questions, covering etiological agent, transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of the disease. The objective of the study was to verify and identify the level of knowledge of these participants about hepatitis C. The results showed that there is a lack of information from the population, especially regarding the related pathogen, the affected organ and the forms of contamination, in addition to Hepatitis A confusion over the means of transmission. As a result, the need for educational measures is evident, in order to prevent the pathology, reduce morbidity and mortality and public health costs resulting from complications arising from the disease.
