CARACTERIZAÇÃO DAS OCORRÊNCIAS DE VIOLÊNCIA CONTRA A MULHER REGISTRADAS NO INSTITUTO MÉDICO LEGAL EM ALAGOAS (2019)
Abstract
Historically, violence represents a way of exercising power by one human being over another, causing fear, insecurity and trauma. Violence against women is intertwined with a sexist and patriarchal cultural and social aspect of society, the construction of which begins in childhood, through unequal education between men and women. In cases where there is physical violence, after the complaint, the victim is referred to the Legal Medical Institute, to carry out a criminal examination, and to the Public Defender's Office, to follow up on the procedure and hold the aggressor accountable. This study aimed to characterize the occurrences of violence against women, based on the reports of corpus delicti examinations for bodily injury of women victims of aggression treated at the Instituto Médico Legal Estácio de Lima in 2019. 1,351 reports were analyzed, the data were crossed with published results on the same variables used in the study, through a bibliographic review. The data and analyzes carried out in light of the Maria da Penha Law (Law nº 11,340) allow us to understand that measures are necessary to promote victims' access to the protection mechanisms provided for in the legislation. The data also highlights the need for support actions that provide specialized services, thus ensuring the prevention and confrontation of violence against women.
