Abstract

This article aims to present the importance of methods of peaceful settlement of controversies for the prevention of armed conflicts. For the development of this study, it is initially proposed to analyze the close link between the need for the prevention of armed conflicts with the practice of peaceful settlement of disputes, especially in the context of the Charter of the United Nations. It will then examine the role of preventive diplomacy in the contemporary scenario, as well as the elements that compose it, such as: diplomatic, political and jurisdictional means. In order to ensure the development of the research in an analytical way, we opted for the hypothetical deductive method with the main source of research of a bibliographic nature.
