Abstract

The reality of violence against transgender people has drawn attention around the world. In this scenario, Brazil ranks first in the ranking of murders against transsexuals and transvestites. Even after the international notification and recommendations presented by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in 2015, the country is still marked by an annual average of 118 murders against transgender people. Thus, the present study aims to analyse the implementation of these recommendations against the Brazilian statistics on homicides due to transphobia. Thus, the research is guided by increasing the number of cases even after the international “complaint”, being developed in a quantitative way with the analysis of data presented by the IACHR, international bodies and national associations for the protection of transsexuals and transvestites. From there, it is possible to observe the increase in the number of cases simultaneously with the political change that occurred in the research timeframe.
