With the aim of identifying the care practices provided by the secondary care devices of the Unified Health System (SUS) aimed at the health and well-being of parents of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Natal/RN, this study by The qualitative-descriptive type involved the participation of fifteen mothers of people with ASD and was authorized by the ethics committee of the Onofre Lopes University Hospital under opinion 6.466.061. The results revealed a range of experiences faced by families, from their first contact with health institutions, to the lack of training, qualifications and well-being practices. Although some mothers mentioned the existence of these initiatives, their frequency and dissemination were considered unsatisfactory. Thus, we can conclude that the study highlights the urgency of offering well-being activities and improving communication and accessibility of these events, in order to provide more comprehensive and effective support for families of people with ASD, contributing to better quality life and mental health of these caregivers.
