Abstract

In 2019, a new type of beta-coronavirus started a series of cases in Wuhan, China, called Covid-19 disease. The clinical picture varies from asymptomatic to death and little is known about the effective treatment for the disease. In this sense, it was necessary to seek new solutions for the condition, using vitamin D with adjuvant, as it plays an important role in immune and inflammatory regulation. The study is an integrative review seeking an association between vitamin D and covid severity-19. Searches were carried out on the VHL platform, with the descriptors Vitamin D, coronavirus and Covid-19, using the boolean and, obtaining: 340 articles. Of these, after using the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 12 articles were selected for analysis. Among the articles analyzed, there was an association between low levels of vitamin D and severity in Covid-19, using clinical and laboratory parameters for this. Therefore, among the researches carried out, low levels of vitamin D are probably associated with a greater predisposition to complications of Covid-19, and further research is needed to corroborate the studies.
