Abstract

This article takes an approach on distance education, having as main objective, to understand distance education, as an important instrument of access for students to higher education. As specific objectives, to identify some of the historical aspects of the Brazilian educational reality and discuss the importance of distance learning in the context of today's society and relate the main reasons for the expansion of the in Brazil. The method of approach was the bibliographic and digital research through the consultation of secondary sources. The expected results were that the research answered the questions raised in the problem and that themes such as this, can be explored by people with interest and claim to contribute to the deepening of the theme.
