Abstract

This paper discusses literacy with its challenges in the school environment, starting from the understanding that literacy and literacy are two interdependent processes. The objective was to present the main relationships between these two practices and discuss their main challenges, since the school in its responsibility to introduce the child into the world of writing, does not always manage this student to succeed as a sufficiently literate adult. The methodology used was bibliographic research, through which it was possible to access several theoretical materials produced by scholars in the area, which allowed the formation of points of view on the issue. Finally, it was found the need to relate literacy to literacy as a continuous process that the individual develops by exercising the practice of reading, understanding and interpreting varied texts and understanding the usefulness of writing processes in each context.
