This article is part of an ongoing doctoral research on the memories of the festival and the festivities to Senhor Bom Jesus do Bonfim in Bahia since 1745. Thus, this text of and introduction, has preliminarily the remote origins of devotion and worship to this Lord in Bahia, integrating the set of studies and research about the stories of feasts and festivals popular in Brazil.
