This paper aims to analyze the film as a mediator of representations about the cultural identities of elderly women. Based on theoretical contributions from authors such as Anil Motta, Ana Amelia Camarano, Anthony Seeger, Edgar Morin, Guita Debert, Lucia Santaella, Simone de Beauvoir and others, it will be conducted a study centered on two protagonists of Brazilian films: Central do Brasil and Depois daquele baile. The discussion is about issues related to the representations of the Brazilian cultural identities of Dora and Doris, noting how they are emotionally and socially related, since they are women who innovate, participate and monitor the progress of society. The observation of films is feasible because the movie is a reconstruction of the reality and it transforms individuals into witness of the actions which are represented.Downloads
