POST-OCCUPANCY EVALUATION - THE ARCHITECTURAL CONFLICTS FROM THE HOUSING UNIT VILA DOS PESCADORES, MACEIÓ-AL

Abstract

This article seeks to reflect on the impacts of the removal and relocation of Jaraguá’s Vila dos Pescadores, a community of great importance in the history of Maceió. This removal was justified by the construction of the Fishing Center, with tourist and commercial purposes for the neighborhood. In this gentrification process, Vila dos Pescadores was relocated on Sobral beach, approximately 3 kilometers from its former settlement. The transfer of residents to a new residence resulted in social and economic conflicts, evidenced by the change in their work activities (artisanal fishing), and the architectural conflicts found in the new housing complex. This way we seek to address issues related to the importance and need of a post-occupancy evaluation for good quality project execution that meets the users’ needs, delving into the architectural conflicts of the Vila dos Pescadores housing complex, presenting the historical context of the village’s residents and bringing their accounts and issues within a process of change.
