EPIDEMIOLOGICAL PROFILE OF PATIENTS HOSPITALIZED FOR INFARCTION ACUTE MYOCARDIAL IN HOSPITALS IN THE STATE OF ALAGOAS

Abstract

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is characterized by ischemia resulting from the lack of blood supply to the coronary arteries, That may lead to necrosis of the cardiac muscle. The objective of this study was to determine the epidemiological profile of individuals hospitalized for acute myocardial infarction in the state of Alagoas, between the years 2015 to 2019. The research data were obtained from the system Departamento de informática do Sistema Único de Saúde do Brasil (DATASUS) through the 10th revision of the International Classification of diseases (CID 10), they were systate in the program Microsoft Excel 2007, where a statistical analysis was performed according to the following variables: ethnicity, gender and age group. From an ethical standpoint, the study was conducted with secondary and public domain data, without risks to the study population and without nominal identification, so it is exempt from the Ethics authorization. In the analyzed period, 4.220 hospitalizations for acute myocardial infarction were recorded, being and 2018, the year with bigger number of hospitalizations, totalizing 972 cases. Males were mainly affected with a media of 490 internalizations, while women had a media of 354 hospitalizations. The most affected age range was between 50 and 69 years of age. The profile with the highest number of hospitalizations records for this cause were male, mixed-race, age range between 50 and 69 years old.
