Perfil dos pacientes com COVID-19 internados em terapia intensiva que desenvolveram lesão renal aguda
Abstract
Abstract:
Introduction: COVID-19 has become a global problem due to its expressive capacity to compromise health systems, with patients with comorbidities and/or complications such as acute kidney injury evolving with the worst prognosis. Objective: To investigate the profile of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 who developed AKI, and its relationship with the clinical outcome of mortality. Methodology: Review of medical records of patients with COVID-19 admitted to intensive care and who were evaluated by a nephrologist due to AKI. Clinical, epidemiological and laboratory data were collected from these patients, based on clinical records filled by the team of assistant nephrologists of a private hospital in Maceió, Alagoas. Results: 37 patients were analyzed, 60% male, mean age 68 years, with a predominance of arterial hypertension (78%), diabetes (40%) and obesity (35%). The mortality rate was 81%, with older patients, higher lymphopenia and C-reactive protein levels being the ones with more chances of a death outcome (p<0.05). In addition, there was a high need for mechanical ventilation in patients with AKI and COVID-19 (84%). Conclusion: The data found in this research are similar to reports in the literature, especially with regard to the epidemiological, clinical and laboratory profile of patients with COVID-19 and AKI, enabling the inclusion of this profile of patients in clinical studies for the development of specific treatments.
