Abstract
Cognitive development is a process that is developed from birth and continues throughout life. During this process, children acquire basic cognitive skills, such as the ability to understand phenomena, thoughts, reasoning, motor coordination, among others. Play is fundamental for the development of autonomy and identity, children develop the ability to imitate, memory, reasoning, attention and concentration. The objective is to understand and describe how the stimuli provided by the environment, through playful and interactive activities, influence children's cognitive development. This article results from an intervention carried out as part of an extension project focusing on community interaction, developed as a descriptive and observational study, carried out at a philanthropic institution Lar da Zizi. The project followed children aged 2 to 5 years from September 2023 to June 2024. It is noteworthy that it was possible, through the actions, to create a welcoming environment, promoting interaction and social development of children. Throughout the activities, there was a significant increase in participation, especially in group dynamics, where children began to collaborate and interact more enthusiastically. Finally, the actions reinforced the need for close collaboration between families and educators, highlighting how this interaction is essential for the child's integral development, creating an environment conducive to healthy growth.
