O ACOMPANHAMENTO FARMACÊUTICO NA UTILIZAÇÃO DE MEDICAMENTOS PSICOTRÓPICOS DURANTE A PANDEMIA DO NOVO CORONAVÍRUS: UMA REVISÃO

Abstract

The pandemic and social isolation provided fear and insecurity worldwide, negatively impacting the economy and health, triggering various mental problems. Faced with a critical scenario, pharmacists gained more prominence and visibility, as they are trained health professionals responsible for the fight against the disease. Thus, the objective of this review is to demonstrate the increase in the search for treatments with psychotropic drugs and the importance of pharmaceutical monitoring in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic scenario. A search was conducted in the databases of scientific articles published between the years 2019 to 2022, searched in the Scielo, PubMed and Sciencedirect databases, using as descriptors in Health Sciences: Psychotropics, COVID-19, Pharmaceutical monitoring, Mental health, depression, anxiety. From the search in the literature, what can be seen is that, during the pandemic of the new virus, there was an impact on mental health, since such impacts resulted in a significant increase in the consumption of psychotropic drugs, especially antidepressants Selective Reuptake Inhibitors. from Serotonin; benzodiazepines and tricyclic antidepressants. In view of this search, it is worth mentioning that the role of the pharmacist is extremely important so that the population is guided in the appropriate treatment, in addition to guidelines regarding hygiene and safety measures, dispensing of medicines and doubts such as reactions and interactions and treatment adherence. , thus ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines. Since this increase in demand for psychotropic drugs was relevant, it is important to optimize methods and strategies to reverse the impacts caused by the pandemic on society.
