A NOTECNOLOGIA APLICADA AO TRATAMENTO DA LEISHMANIOSE

Resumo

A leishmaniose se trata de uma doença negligenciada, o qual estima-se uma prevalência de 12 milhões de casos no mundo, sendo que 350 milhões de pessoas estão ameaçadas de contrair a doença em 98 países. Diante disso, o objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a terapêutica anti-leishmania convencional e o potencial da tecnologia farmacêutica como ferramenta destinada ao tratamento e controle da doença. Foi conduzida uma revisão integrativa utilizando as bases de dados, Science Direct, Pubmed e Medline. Os artigos foram agrupados por similaridade de conteúdo e realizados a leitura e síntese. Os resultados mostraram que a distribuição de um fármaco no organismo pode ser modificada pelo uso de sistema de liberação controlada. Estes carreadores melhoram a biodisponibilidade apresentando resultados relevantes na redução dos efeitos colaterais do tratamento convencional. Para o controle efetivo da leishmaniose, as diferentes tecnologias de polímeros de escala nano e o uso de carreadores como direcionamento de bioativos foram introduzidos no mercado e podem evoluir como uma estratégia efetiva no tratamento da leishmaniose sendo necessárias novas investigações para alcançar um produto eficaz e acessível para esta doença negligenciada.
