Abstract

School is vital to the cognitive and social development during most part of an individual's life, in order to be necessary from its firsts years of life. The Montessori method is identified as one of the teaching methods that deviates from the traditional ones and demands the adaptation of architectural and engineering projects. In part, because they share great responsibility for the final result of the building project, both aesthetically and functionally, as well as because it is a teaching methodology that aims at self-education and free development of children. Thus, the contribution of the structures to the architectural expression and contemplation of what is proposed by Montessori teaching method is investigated based on case studies of school projects.
