Abstract

The divorce had its legal mark, in Brazil, in the year of 1977, providing that unhappy couples in their marriages could legally separate. In the period of divorce, conflicts between couples are generally greater, which ends up impacting the children's psychological and social life. A conflictual relationship between parents results in the disruption of the child's quality of life, causing psychological disorders and maladjustments. The results showed that children who have divorced parents perceive themselves to have a worse quality of life than parents who are married; they have less satisfaction with their health, more behaviors that interfere with their health, less factors that protect against future health problems, worse well-being related to relationships with colleagues and school performance, more symptoms of separation anxiety, worse self-esteem, more school fears and more behavior problems. The psychological adjustment of these children is generally worse. Therefore, it is concluded that divorce brings psychological and social impacts to children / minors, therefore, it is emphasized that parents, even divorced, pay attention to offer even more affection and try to meet all the needs of the children. children. This article aims to present the psychological and social repercussions of divorce on the child's life. This is a review of narrative literature, carried out through the following databases: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Graduation Notebooks of the Tiradentes Group, official government websites of Brazil, laws and books.
