BENEFITS OF MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEW IN MINIMIZING/CESSATION OF CONSUMPTION OF CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES FOR DEPENDENTS: A SYSTEMATIC ANALYSIS

Abstract

Chemical dependence is a public health problem that has been growing over the years around the world. The harmful use of drugs has become increasingly common in the current scenario and motivation has been identified as a key factor for changing destructive attitudes. With this, the motivational interview is seen as the most elaborate method when referring to the treatment of chemical dependents through motivation. Therefore, the objective of this study is to understand the relevance of motivational interviewing in the treatment of chemical dependence. For this, the method of systematic review was adopted using the following databases: VHL, Dialnet and Pubmed. During the systematization, 9 studies were selected that addressed the demand objectified in this writing. Through data analysis it was found that the motivational interview has satisfactory results in the reduction/cessation of drug consumption. The management of this tool becomes essential to work with this growing demand in society.
